FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance provider. I do not accept insurance because insurance providers require that a client be diagnosed with a mental health disorder in order to reimburse for services. The reasons people seek therapy do not always neatly fit into the criteria for a diagnosis. Additionally, without billing through insurance, no third party is required to know the details of why you are seeking treatment.

Often, clients are able to use their out-or-network health insurance benefits. Please check with your insurance provider to learn more about out-of-network coverage. I am happy to provide you with a detailed bill of services, including a diagnosis, for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What are Your Rates?

My rates of $190-$220 are competitive with other practices in the region. I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards.

Do you offer Teletherapy?

Yes! I am able to provide virtual therapy using a secure video platform. I was offering teletherapy even before the pandemic, and have found that treatment is just as effective while being far more convenient for many clients.

What happens during an initial session?

During our initial session, I’ll take time to learn more about you, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about me and how I work. What we discover together will guide my recommendations and inform a thoughtful treatment plan, followed by regularly scheduled sessions. While each person’s situation is unique, my work is grounded in a consistent foundation: evidence-based therapy delivered in a deeply human way—supported by science and research, and shaped by what we all need to heal and grow, including understanding, connection, empathy, curiosity, and non-judgment.

How long does each session last?

The initial session typically 90 to 120 minutes, and the following appointments are more often 50 minutes.
